I bought this for my son last Christmas as his first camera. I chose this one primarily due to the features and reputation of Olympus. My son has used this outdoors in single digit weather with decent results. As with most digital cameras the battery life is always too short. Recommendation: Purchase rechargable batteries with the highest output rating you can find. Save yourself a pocket full of money for about $25 you can get a decent set of batteries and charger.
